For some Collect Open artists, this is their first experience of an international fair. Others arrive with established practices, businesses and very different ambitions.
Understanding the work matters. Understanding the person behind it matters too.
Through one-to-one conversations, I listen to the whole picture: their creative practice, experience, ambitions, questions and challenges.
I can then draw on my own experience as an artist alongside my knowledge of the craft sector, creative business and professional development to offer the counsel, questioning, challenge, connections or thinking space that individual needs at that moment.
The support changes because the person changes.
What remains constant is creating the space for artists to recognise what they need, trust their thinking and take ownership of what comes next.
